Experience the heart of Japanese sake brewing on Sado Island in Niigata Prefecture. Once a school, the Gakkōgura (School Brewery) has been transformed by Obata Shuzo, a sake brewery founded in 1892, into a unique facility where visitors from around the world can learn the art of sake making.
The brewery uses only locally grown rice from Sado Island and operates during the summer months. One of the main attractions is a week-long sake brewing experience, where participants work alongside professional brewers. This hands-on program was designed by CEO Mr. Hirashima, who wanted to turn the former school into a fun and educational space.
